We stayed at the Westin Resort and Spa in Whistler for one night in January 2025. We signed up for free kids ski lessons at Whistler and stayed at the Westin. Whistler has definitely become very ‘bougie’ since the 2010 Olympics and people spend a lot of money to ski and stay in Whistler.
We booked using the Marriott website and used a redemption of the Scotiabank American Express Platinum card with Scene+ Points.
The prices of this Westin are very high (because Whistler), for example, a cash rate in March 2025 for one night for a studio suite is $735/night and a one bedroom suite is $850/night.
Otherwise, if you are redeeming your Marriott Bonvoy points it can be 84,000 points for peak season.
Here’s my review of the Marriott Bonvoy American Express if you are interested- you can get a welcome bonus of 50,000 points with this card after meeting a minimum spend.

Convenience
The Westin Whistler is located in the Whistler Village. To walk from the Westin to the Whistler Village Gondola and the Fitzsimmons Express it takes about 5 minutes, it’s pretty much beside the Gondola.
You can’t really get any closer to the ski hills than the Westin. Still the kids complained about walking to Gondola area with their tight ski boots, haha.
There is self-parking option and valet parking option. The self-parking is around $34 and the valet parking is about $4 more.
You are discouraged from putting your skis in your car and they are also not allowed in your room. Instead they have a ski valet for a small fee.
Breakfast Option Grill and Vine
If you have Platinum Elite benefits and up, you can get the complimentary breakfast buffet at the Grill and Vine. Normally the breakfast buffet is $46 CAD per adult and $25 per child. The operating hours are from 6:30 am – 12:00 pm for breakfast.
The Elite benefits are only good for two adults, so children are not included.
The breakfast wasn’t that great (definitely not worth $46 per person) but they had an assorted cheese spread, cereal options, eggs (including omelette station), assorted pastries, waffles, and pancakes.
The Grill and Vine restaurant was quite full for breakfast but when I walked by during lunch and dinner time it was quite empty.
1 BedRoom Suite
We were upgraded to a one bedroom suite which was quite spacious, it is about 470 square feet.
The bathroom included both a shower stall and a bath tub. The White Tea shower gel and shampoo smell amazing.
The 1 bedroom suites also have a small balcony where you can enjoy the fresh air.
Each Westin room has an oven, stove, refrigerator, and even a dishwasher. The fridge was a bit small but still not bad at all. This is convenient especially if you want to save money by making your own food at Whistler.
Amenities
The Westin in Whistler has a swimming pool that goes from indoor to outdoor and hot tubs that are both located indoor and outdoor. There’s also a sauna and steam room. The pools and hot tubs can get pretty crowded with kids in the evenings, but during the day it was empty.
The fitness and exercise area overlooks the outdoor swimming pool. There’s also some fresh cold towels in the fridge and water for your water bottle.
There’s also a fire pit with some chairs to relax at but it’s pretty cold out there in the winter.
Westin Resort and Spa is Kid Friendly
Upon check-in to the Westin Resort and Spa, our kids were given a workbook to complete, and if they completed the work book, they would get a prize. The prize was a lovely goody bag with their name on it, a certificate, and some stickers, necklace, stamp, ball, and temporary tattoo.
Definitely a nice touch to make the little ones feel special.
Whistler Westin Resort and Spa Review
We had a great time at the Westin Resort and Spa.
The room was great and comfortable, the fireplace is a nice touch.
The cleanliness was ‘okay’ (there was a kitchen tool that was unclean but they fixed it quickly).
The food at the Grill and Vine was decent but not amazing.
For what you pay for ($700 a night), it seems expensive considering you’re not getting a luxurious experience but given that everything else in peak season Whistler is expensive, this is a good option especially if you are a Marriott Bonvoy member.
