17 FREE birthday Stuff Canada (For 2026)

A few years ago, I made it a tradition to not work on my birthday and spend much of the day collecting free birthday stuff in Vancouver. There’s no better way to celebrate my birthday than to go around the city collecting my birthday freebies like I’m on a scavenger hunt. There are some amazing birthday freebies in my city, but there are also birthday freebies in Canada that many more Canadians can take advantage of. This is the ultimate guide on where to get free stuff on your birthday in Canada.

Here’s the list of birthday freebies in Canada.

Birthday Freebies in Canada

These birthday freebies in Canada will guarantee to make your day a little bit brighter and a little bit sweeter. Some freebies you can collect on your birthday (or close to your birthday) include:

• Free Starbucks drinks
• Free food from Tim Hortons
• Free pancakes
• Free Sephora make up or skin care

This comprehensive list will go over free drinks, free food, free desserts, and then free birthday stuff in Canada.

First, let’s peruse free birthday stuff in Canada in the form on free drinks for your birthday:

Starbucks Birthday Freebie

This is probably one of the most well-known birthday freebies in Canada around, but you can get a free drink (of any kind that you want).

To qualify you need a Starbucks Gift Card and need to sign up for Starbucks Rewards at least 7 days before your birthday. 

Then you have to have a star earning purchase (it is earned usually from buying something at Starbucks) before your birthday each year.  Also, make sure your Starbucks Rewards account online includes your birthday.

So this takes a bit of planning if you’re not a Starbucks Rewards member already. 

You can redeem for a complimentary handcrafted beverage OR one a complimentary food item OR a complimentary ready-to-drink bottled beverage.

You will get an email about 2 days before your birthday reminding you of your birthday Starbucks drink.

• When to Redeem: On  your birthday
• Value: up to $9.40 (including tax)

I signed up for my birthday reward two years and got a membership card.  I didn’t get the birthday email but I managed to call Starbucks customer service and they inputted the birthday reward on my account.  You can get food instead of drinks too!  I got a Chicken and Quinoa Protein Bowl which came up to $9.40 after taxes.  I believe it is $8.95.  It was FREE!!

Great way to save money on food, if you ask me.

It can be any menu item and you can even order it ahead on the Starbucks app and just tell the barista you are claiming your Starbucks birthday freebie.  I had a Chicken and bacon on brioche sandwich instead of the protein bowl last year and it is around an $8 value. 

This year I decided to go for a drink.

It can be any menu item and you can even order it ahead on the Starbucks app and click “claim your birthday reward” without even having to talk to anyone.

If you are choosing a drink, make sure you get a venti size. A great iced drink option to choose as yoru Starbucks Birthday Freebie is the Iced Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso. I think it added to something like $9.50 after my modifications, it was great to get it for free.

Tim Horton’s Birthday Reward

Similar to Starbucks, Tims Rewards has a birthday offer in Canada.  To qualify, you have to sign up for Tim Hortons Rewards 7 days before your birthday.

Then you have to make an eligible transaction within 12 months of your birthday.

Your birthday offer will be communicated to you within the app or by email.

You can get a free drink with Tim Hortons Rewards points, which is enough for a brewed coffee or tea, hot chocolate, french vanilla, or a Tim’s iced coffee.  You can also get a breakfast sandwich.

Just like with Starbucks, you can only redeem your birthday offer on your birthday.

When you are ordering in the app, make sure it says “Reward” beside your order so that you can redeem the reward and not get charged (I made this mistake unfortunately).

Finally, one thing to note if you value your privacy is to make sure you turn off GPS tracking in the app.  In the summer of 2020, the Tim Horton’s app was in the news because it was found they are tracking your whereabouts, even if it is no where a Tim Hortons, and when you go away to Morocco for international travel!

• Value: Up to $4.85 or so

Also, it all has to be done in the app and redeemed in the Tim Hortons app if you order ahead. You can also load it and then use your digital card to make a purchase at the Tim Hortons.

You can’t just go into Tim Hortons and show them your Driver’s License- that does not work.

David’s Tea Birthday Gift

If you join the Frequent Steeper Club you get 5 Free Points on your birthday and a free tin in store. 

• When to redeem: On your birthday
• Value:  $8 or so

If you join Jugo Juice Rewards, you can get a birthday smoothie on your birthday.  They started this Jugo Juice birthday smoothie promotion in 2021.

You’ll get bonus Birthday Points, enough to receive a free large Jugo Juice smoothie on your birthday. This is the email I got in 2026. Their most popular smoothie is the Mighty Kale. You have to have a Jugo juice rewards card to redeem this (it’s free to sign up).

Jugo Juice has locations all across Canada, like in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia.

• When to redeem: Within 7 days of your birthday
• Value: Around $10

Now that you’ve quenched your thirst, it’s time to chow down! Here’s some free food on your birthday in Canada:

Denny’s Grand Slam Birthday Freebie

If you go to Denny’s on your actual birthday and show a government-issued ID you get a free original Grand Slam breakfast, this is comprised of two eggs, two strips of bacon, two sausages and two pancakes (basically you get a “Build Your Own Grand Slam”.

Taxes and gratuities are extra and you have to buy a drink. Bottomless coffee is $3.89.  The hash browns are delicious, though I find that IHOP pancakes are better than Denny’s.

Unfortunately, you can’t do your Grand Slam birthday freebie as ‘take out’.  You can only dine-in for your Denny’s Vancouver birthday freebie.

As of August 2025, they have a specific Grand Slam breakfast, but you can still build your own grand slam. You can’t redeem for anything else and you have to buy a drink from their menu.

• When to Redeem: On your birthday
• Value: $14.59 (you have to buy a drink)

Red Robin Royalty Birthday Burger

If you sign up for Red Robin Royalty AND you spend $10 before your birthday month, you get a free burger coupon emailed to you and it is valid for the month of your birthday. This includes any of their gourmet burgers but not the Finest Burgers.

The Red Robin birthday burger was probably one of our favourite birthday freebies in Canada.  They have the best burgers and fries, in my opinion. However, as of 2025 they changed it and you have to spend $10 before your birthday month.

Their fries and salads are unlimited (free refills)!

When you get the Red Robin, you just tell them you would like to claim your birthday burger, and they will ask for your cell phone number (the number associated with Red Robin Royalty).

If you order a lower priced burger, they still give you the $ off the more expensive burger (if it was the burger you as the birthday girl or guy ordered).

As of April 1, 2025 you will have to earn 10 points ($10 qualifying spend) before the FIRST day of your birthday month to get the free birthday burger. You will also need to spend a minimum of $10 during the visit too for a redemption.

I think Red Robin maybe feels bad for the drastic change in their birthday burger policy, but I got this email in my inbox trying to entice me to go to Red Robin.

Sorry, a birthday milkshake isn’t going to cut it! It’s not as good as a birthday burger. You also have to have a $4.99 minimum spend for the milkshake.

• When to Redeem: Your birthday month (and you need to spend $10 before your birthday month to get the coupon as of April 1, 2025)
• Value: Up to $21.99 with a minimum purchase of $10.00

South Street Burger Birthday Club

If you sign up for the South Street Burger Birthday Club, you can get a digital coupon for a buy one get one free burger on your birthday. You have to sign up at least 72 hours before your birthday and it is only valid for pick up or dine-in, not for delivery.

South Street Burger has locations in British Columbia, Alberta, and Ontario.

• When to Redeem: Valid for 14 days
• Value: Buy One Get One Free

Cobs Bread Birthday freebie

If you sign up for Cobs Club, you can get a free Cobs cinnamon bun on your birthday.

You have to sign up for the Cobs Club at least 7 days before your birthday and you need to make a purchase within 1 year Cobs before your birthday.

Cobs over 145 locations all across Canada.

• When to Redeem: Up to 14 days after your birthday.
• Value: $8 for both the scone and cinnamon bun

In addition, Cobs gives you a Half-Birthday treat! A scone of any flavour.

This is the white chocolate berry scone that I got for my half birthday.

New York Fries Birthday Freebie

If you join New York Fries Fry Society Loyalty Program you can get a free regular fries from New York Fries on your birthday. You have to spend $50 first before you can get the free fries.

New York Fries locations are usually at shopping malls across Canada.

That’s a lot of fries beforehand to get free birthday fries!

• Value: Around $5

Baskin Robbins Birthday Freebie

If you join Baskin Robbins Club 31, you can get a free BOGO scoop of Baskin Robbins ice cream. You will get an email for a coupon for a BOGO 2.5 oz scoop or 3 oz soft serve cone, or for $5 off a $20+ cake on your birthday.

You can register yourself and up to four of your children.

Baskin Robbins are located in over 100 locations across Canada, in the provinces of Ontario, Quebec, Manitoba, and British Columbia.

• When to Redeem: 5 days before and 5 days after your actual birthday
• Value: Around $5 BOGO

Boston Pizza Birthday Dessert

If you sign up for My BP Loyalty Program, you can get a free dessert for your birthday. 

You have to dine in only.

You could probably stack this with the Kids Club Free Kids Meals, but I haven’t tried yet.

Too bad it’s not a free pizza, but a free dessert is still a nice touch.

• When to Redeem: An email will be sent 1 week before your birthday and it is valid for almost 2 months
• Value: Up to $7.99 depending on the dessert you order

Dairy Queen Birthday Coupon

Join the DQ Blizzard Fan Club and get a BOGO Free Blizzard Treat.  Once you join you get an email coupon to print out for $3 off a DQ Cake or a BOGO Free Medium Blizzard Treat (of equal or lesser value).

• When to Redeem: It expires 1 week after your birthday
• Value: $5

Marble Slab Creamery Birthday Ice cream

Join the Marble Slab App and get free a Marble Slab ice cream cone.  You have to sign up at least 7 days before your birthday in order to get the email coupon.

It used to be a BOGO offer but this year they sweetened the deal (no pun intended!).

• When to Redeem:  It expires 14 days after your birthday
• Value: around $5 (or however much you want to spend for your cone)

Finally, on to one of my favourite part of free birthday stuff in Canada, actual free birthday STUFF in Canada, like points, cosmetics, and vouchers!

Sephora Birthday Gift

This is well known for beauty fans that Sephora gives you a free birthday gift if you redeem it for the month of your birthday when you sign up for the Sephora Beauty Insider.

Signing up for the Sephora Beauty Insider is free.

Sephora is similar to Beauty Boutique with Shoppers Drug Mart, and I would argue that it is more popular.

You can either go in store and receive this gift with no purchase necessary, or go online and buy something from Sephora ($25 minimum) and add your birthday gift onto your online purchase.

Don’t forget to sign up for Rakuten to get cash back if you end up doing the online purchase (you can get $30 cash back if you aren’t a member yet and sign up and make a purchase within 30 days).

For the 2026 birthday freebie, they are changing it up a bit. There are more options but it is “while supplies last”. I guess the January babies get more options!

Kiehl’s Birthday Freebie

Kiehl’s recently changed their birthday freebie, previously you could go in to a Kiehl’s store and get a lip balm but now they changed it.

You have to have made a purchase before your birthday and depending on your Kiehl’s reward level, you could get two deluxe samples for your birthday. The highest reward level “Everest” is a Kiehl’s lip balm.

London Drugs Birthday Gift Voucher

If you sign up for London Drugs LDExtras program they email you a $5 gift voucher for your birthday.   It’s an easy way to get a free gift card or voucher.

London Drugs has extensive locations in British Columbia, Alberta, and a few locations in Saskatchewan and one location in Manitoba.

You can either buy something online from London Drugs online, or when you are at London Drugs, you can ask them to apply your birthday coupon to your purchase.

As of 2023, you have to make a purchase at London Drugs in the 12 months before your birthday month to get your London Drugs Birthday Reward.

You have to activate the voucher and load it to your account.

• When to Redeem: An email will be sent about 1 week before your birthday and you have to activate it before the last day of your birthday month to get the voucher loaded onto your account.  The $5 voucher expires in about 6 months.
• Value: $5

Rexall Free Be Well Points

If you join the Rexall Be Well Program (it’s kind of like the PC Optimum Program) you can get an email for10,000 Be Well points if you may ANY purchase during your birthday month. It can even be a pack of gum or a dozen eggs.

You just have to click “load offer” when you get the email so it can be loaded to your Be Well account.

For the Be Well program, 25,000 points can be redeemed for $10 worth of goods from Rexall. So 10,000 Be Well points is worth about $4.

Rexall has numerous locations in British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Quebec. Basically all across Canada.
